Cathodic Protection
Cathodic protection (CP) is a method used to control the corrosion on a metal surface by making it work as the cathode of an electrochemical cell. This is achieved by placing the metal which is to be protected in contact with another, less noble, metal to act as the anode of the electrochemical cell. This less noble metal will then be sacrificed in favour of the structure being protected. CP systems are most commonly used to protect steel water or fuel pipelines and storage tanks, steel pier piles, ships, offshore oil platforms, onshore oil well casings and reinforcing steel in concrete.

Basic Introduction
SZS 2000 is one system that is designed to stop the corrosion by creating a barrier between the solid electrolyte (sea water and soil) and steel surfaces by using petroleum paste as main material.

1. Petroleum Paste
Petroleum and oil-based paste that can resist water, corrosion inhibitors and biocides spectrum. priming paste used on corroded and perforated steel. paste is applied prior to the installation of petrolatum tape at stake. (petroleum berbasis pasta dan minyak yang dapat menolak air, inhibitor korosi dan biocides spectrum. priming paste di gunakan pada baja yang berkarat dan berlubang. paste di aplikasikan sebelum pemasangan petrolatum tape pada tiang pancang.)
2. Petrolatum Tape
A compound containing oil base that can resist water, corrosion inhibitors and biocides spectrum in the coated fabrics of synthetic non-degradable. (Suatu senyawa mengandung dasar minyak yang dapat menolak air, penghambat korosi dan biocides spectrum yang di lapisi kain sintetis non-degradable)
3. Outer Cover
Sheets hight density polyethylene (HDPE), black in color with a thickness of 1.50 mm – 2.00 mm, resistant to ultra violet (UV), HDPE applications after petrolatum tape attached.( Lembar hight density polyethylene (HDPE), berwarna hitam dengan ketebalan 1,50 mm – 2,00 mm, tahan terhadap ultra violet (UV), aplikasi HDPE setelah petrolatum tape terpasang.)
4. Enclosure
Pvc plastic semicircle equipped strip made from stainless steel plate and ring washer and stainless steel bolt as locking the outer cover (HDPE). ( plastik pvc setengah lingkaran di lengkapi plat strip berbahan stainless steel serta ring washer dan baut stainless steel sebagai pengunci outer cover ( HDPE ). )
5. Strapping Band
Rope made from HDPE / Stainless steel locking head fitted as an additional binder / outer lock cover. (tali berbahan dasar HDPE / Stainless steel dilengkapi locking head sebagai tambahan pengikat / pengunci outer cover.)
6. locating Band
A semi-circular steel plate is equipped and strengthened by the bolt and nut temporary cover to prevent sagging (setengah lingkaran steel plate di lengkapi dan di perkuat oleh bolt dan nut bersifat sementara untuk mencegah cover melorot)
